St. Augustine, Fla. – May 23, 2022 – The St. Johns County Education Foundation, Inc., which operates as INK! (Investing in Kids), announced it has received a grant for $1,000 from VyStar Credit Union to help celebrate St. Johns County teachers. INK! has an ongoing mission to provide innovative programs, classroom resources and teacher support to benefit the academic success of students in the St. Johns County School District, Fla.
VyStar believes in doing good and leading by example, especially when it comes to supporting local education foundations and their efforts to celebrate and elevate teachers in their communities. Through this grant, VyStar supported INK!’s end of the school year appreciation event celebrating St. Johns County educators.
Hosted at the beautiful Tringali Barn at Heritage Farms, teachers enjoyed an opportunity to relax and connect with fellow educators from across St. Johns County, celebrate the many accomplishments of the school year and brainstorm new ideas and classroom projects for the upcoming school year. Teachers of the Year and Rookie Teachers of the Year representing several St. Johns County schools from the last several years attended the brunch event.
“Over the last several years, we have seen unprecedented challenges in St. Johns County schools, from a global pandemic to rapid growth and an influx of new students to teacher and staff shortages, yet our educators have remained dedicated and committed,” said Donna Lueders, INK! Executive Director. “Despite the challenges, our educators have continued to be a guiding light for our students. We wanted to show our appreciation for their dedication and resilience and for their continued efforts educating St. Johns County students.”
The funding received by INK! is part of a $50,000 VyStar grant to the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations (Consortium) to fund teacher appreciation and support activities by local education foundations for thousands of teachers throughout their 49-county Florida footprint.
“At VyStar Credit Union, we are proud to work alongside teachers across many Florida communities through our High School Branch Program, and we are deeply appreciative of all their hard work in support of their students,” said Patricia McElroy, SVP and President VyStar Community Foundation. “Today’s students will go on to become tomorrow’s leaders — and that’s because they have teachers who are dedicated to helping them reach their full potential. By supporting this wonderful celebration, VyStar recognizes and lifts up educators across the state and thanks them for guiding their students every day.”
